just this s first various artists aims to the research of a mix of sounds by producers from different countries, to a journey into a variegated world. melancholic vibes, deep ambient atmospheres. the second part of the various artists, gets straight to the point, reaching the dancefloor in a more hard and deep insistent way. the first track inside world is composed by hunter/game, as a playful banger with a solid kick, brushed percussions and surging, subtly atmospheric synth pads that make the track dreamy while fierce. the second one by pisetzky comes with a strong, continuous 4/4 bassline and organic percussion from start to end, further on dominated by a hypnotic melody followed by a more romantic and dreamy motif full of longing melancholy and eternity. the third one comes from just this new artist altman, with a breaking mellow downbeat theme, it lets all squeaky sounds mesh nicely like a dream landscape opening up into a widescreen chord progression, with an epic build up.

the second release on tb arthurs (312) label finds the mysterious artist revealing a collaborative project with magda as blotter trax. the pair first encountered each other at the famous motor city record store record time, when detroit artist bmg introduced his then co-workers magda and derek plaslaiko to arthur, who was visiting the shop from chicago. sometime after that meeting, magda and arthur went into the studio and jammed together for a week, the session was recorded live on analog 1/4 tape and then three tracks were selected for release. 1a is six and a half minutes of modulated synth sounds that are psyched out and sci-fi, spooky and truly atmospheric. full of cerebral cinematism, acid lines and ghoulish textures all add up to a truly standout track. 2a then marries dark wave pops and clicks, unsettling alien lifeforms and menacing, slo motion industrial drums into a physical and imposing groover riddled with paranoid sirens and drones. last of all, 2b snakes and slithers its way through undulating drums, cosmic freakiness and gloopy synth sounds that are all seductive and subversive in equal measure. this, then, is a truly fascinating pairing.

detroits brainstorm have achieved cult status as a group among underground disco, soul and boogie aficionados worldwide. hot for you lifted from their 3rd lp from 1979 has always been a huge record for the more discerning disco jocks, those who like to dig a little deeper to find the gems. a real dancefloor burner that found favour with everyone from larry levan to daniele baldelli after it s original release. the same can be said for journey to the light, another anthemic slice of midtempo michigan soul that was hugely popular in london on its infamous -rare groove- scene, pirate radio stations and beyond. lifted from the bands second lp and oozing class journey is a stellar cut, truly essential! both of these tracks on one 12- already make this an essential release for any real soul head, but the fact that the versions featured here are private re-edits from one of the true masters of the game s private vaults makes it utterly unmissable. yes, thats right - danny krivit, disco royalty, a true pioneer and re-edit trailblazer adding his unique touch to these incredible pieces of music make this a particularly hot biscuit. danny has kindly opened up his archive and in conjunction with tabu / demon music group brings us these amazing reworkings. both tracks have been lovingly edited and tweaked by mr.k himself with dj s and dancers in mind. 100% legit!

bologna s frank agrario decided to take destiny into his own hands earlier this year, founding micronation records as an outlet for his music. the ladonia ep - named after a disputed micro-nation in southern sweden - is agrario s second missive for the imprint, and features a particularly luscious, amospheric dancefloor roller named after the state s most famous landmark, a sculpture called -nimis-. arguably even better is -i played that track already , a dusty, detroit style deep house cut blessed with a bold cowbell line, sustained chords, and a nagging vocal hook. rick wade provides a deliciously deep and soulful interpretation of that track, while the softly jazzy, broken-house track -lesboa- is also worth a listen.

italian label greentech was inaugurated by minimono last year with a great remix by windy city legend paul johnson. the second edition features gaetano caruana aka caruan making his debut in production after many years of djing. -tempo reale- is an inventive and off kilter groove generated by clearly analogue means that pounds and grinds away out of sync at first, until it gradually begins to lock and it sounds great. there s some killer remixes by a real who s who of the scene and we can t help but mention all of them! first up fellow italians verrina & ventura deliver a typically stripped and rolling minimal house rendition. croatian hypnotic techno don petar dundov then delivers something more pounding and aggressive than we re used to, but we loved it all the same. finally the -eduardo de la calle tempo intrusion reale remix- sees the spanish master of trance induction deliver one of his best remixes in a while, complete with spooky sci-fi atmosphere, millsian bleeps and sonar blips.
